Hundreds of uniquely blended biomes. One of the biggest challenges with large Minecraft maps is making sure they don't feel monotonous in survival! Way back in the day, watching a dev interview for Wrath of The Lich King I learned a key design philosophy for Northrend; diversity! I always thought the Borean Tundra was a good example of it. While it is a big bleak tundra, they still have hot pools, oil spills, and glaciers. I try to embrace that to varying degrees all throughout the map.
